As you are aware, the Board of Education and Superintendent have taken action to close schools, cancel classes and any student-related activities effective Monday, March 16, 2020. The District will close its schools through Friday, April 3, 2020, while we evaluate the appropriate path moving forward. All permanent employees will continue to receive all salary and benefits during this closure.

RUSD will continue to provide some essential services which necessitates the need for some employees to report to work as normal, in support of both students and employees. Such services include providing two (2) meals per day to 66% of our students, processing payroll for employees, and processing payments for our business partners.

A list of classified positions identified as essential to accomplishing the tasks above, can be found by
CLICKING HERE , and will report to work on Monday, March 16, 2020. Please note the list of classified positions may change. We are working with California Schools Employee Association (“CSEA”) #506 and appreciate all they are doing to support employees and the District. We will continue to collaborate with CSEA to negotiate the effects of classified employees during this closure.

During this closure, if you are not instructed to come to work, please stay home and take care of yourself because you will not be allowed to come on any RUSD owned, or leased, property (e.g., school campus, district office, etc.).

We will be meeting again on March 27, 2020. At that time, we will provide more information regarding our next steps. For updates, please refer to the Employee Updates Regarding Corona Virus COVID-19 section on the Personnel Department page on the District website.
